All of us duffers seem to forget what it takes to lower our scores. No, a new $400 driver will not help you break 100! Or that swanky belly putter your buddy has talked raves about, that isn’t going to help you either. Time spent at the driving range is our biggest asset to help lower our shots per round. But when we do find time to hit the range most of us fall victim to bad habits, spending too much time trying to master that 1 club in the bag that will never be mastered, the DRIVER!

Have you ever thought about it this way; how many times in a round of golf do you hit a driver? Yet when it comes time to working out your kinks at the range, we use it to hit a majority of our golf balls.

Have you ever thought about hitting up the driving range and plowing through a large bucket of balls with just a 5, 7, and 9-iron? Think about how many times per round you might use those clubs compared to your driver?

Next time you’re at the driving range try a little something different, hit 80% of your golf balls using a combination of a 5-pw, then pull the old Big Dog out and see how you do! You might be surprised!
