One of the reasons I started this blog (I have no life but that’s not the reason) was based purely off the inspiration of following other golf blogs & forums. I get a kick out of reading experienced golfers trying to educate and influence their wisdom on beginners & moderate players, everybody has an opinion, and golfers seem to have 2 for every argument.

But anyway, just last month I was reading a forum post titled “What is your latest purchase” and it got me thinking about how lucky I am to live in the Northwest (Seattle). This post had over 100 responses, with most of the entries sounding like gitty little kids anxiously waiting to demo their new off season purchase. So I thought for a second, “Why are these guys waiting to try their new club out? Get your butts off the couch and head out to the golf course!”, until reading a little deeper into the post I began to realized that most of these golfers still had snow on the ground where they lived. The horror!

Now when golfing in Seattle you might have to deal with adverse weather conditions and some courses can play a little soggy at times, but usually you can tee it up everyday of the year, I am reading posts from people who are lucky to get 6-8 months of golf in before they have to pack it up for the winter. So when I read a blog post, like the one from Sean over at the Ottawa Golf Blog, announcing course openings “after a winter that never seemed it would end”, I can’t help but rejoice along with all of the hibernating golfers out there.

So to all my friends in Canada & the Northern States; “Welcome Back! It’s going to be a great season!”
